Aquatics Experience Coordinator - Full Time
POSITION SUMMARY:
Working under the supervision of the Aquatics Experience Director to ensure a safe and positive environment for all YMCA members and guests. This position ensures that staff are able to work in a well-organized and productive environment, that programs are running efficiently, and that our Aquatics departments continue to meet the needs of the community.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Include the following, other duties may be assigned:
1. Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
2. Ensures records of all staff certifications are current and complete along with all in service standards being met.
3. Updating pool schedule monthly and monitors for upcoming events.
4. Conducts certification courses in both YMCA and American Red Cross courses.
5. Helps maintain inventory and recommends purchases.
6. Relates with participants' parents by providing information/procedures around observing lessons, handouts, and flyers, answering questions during the lessons, and ensuring program evaluations are completed.
7. Participates in emergency drills and procedures to the highest level that training and situation permits.
8. Program duties include: Entering classes into Daxko, assigning students to appropriate levels, eliminates wait lists, monitors registration, returns phone calls and emails promptly, and posts the schedule for members. Program development duties include: Track retention, promotions, and total registration for class. Analyze fill percentages and adjust next session offerings. Develops strategies with branch leadership to grow/build programs. Identifies program opportunities to meet community needs.
9. Provides staff with ongoing supervision and training related to abuse risk.
10. Provides staff with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with youth.
11. Requires staff to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
12. Responds quickly to policy and procedure violations using the organization’s progressive disciplinary procedures.
13. Responds earnestly and confidently to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors.
14. Follows mandated reporting requirements.
15. Communicates to all staff the organization’s commitment to protecting their youth from abuse. 16. Ability to work effectively with diverse groups and viewpoints from all social and economic segments of the organization and community. SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Indirectly supervises 5-20 staff. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the association's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; developing, coaching, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Must be at least 18 years of age and have HS diploma and previous teaching experience.
- Certifications: CPR for the Professional Rescuer, AED, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguarding required.
- Within 6 months of hire: YMCA Swim Lessons Instructor certification and American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor certification.
