Develop lifelong safety and leadership skills
Duties include:
- Maintains safety and security of the pool and its patrons at all times
- Rules are explained and enforced in a courteous, professional, and firm manner
- Knows/reviews all emergency procedures and responds to emergency situations immediately.
- Maintain effective, positive relationships with members, participants and other staff
- Performs chemical testing, as required.
- Participates in emergency drills and in service to the level in which staff have been trained.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Must be 15 years of age or older
- Ability to maintain American Red Cross Lifeguard certification
- Ability to work with a diverse population, including children
- Comfort in and around water
- Must pass a background check (18 years of age or older)
- Must pass a pre-employment skill check

Summary
Maintains safe swimming conditions in the pool, deck, and surrounding areas. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures.
