Local Artist’s Vibrant Illustrations Bring New Children’s Book to Life

[Grove City, OH – August 1, 2023] Danica Barreau, a long-time Grove City resident and owner of Pouka Art & Photography, recently published a 36-page picture book titled “Rook and the Magic Door”. The story revolves around a curious dog named “Rook” and the discovery of a magic door that transports him to new places. Mrs. Barreau is an award-winning photographer and digital painter and filled the book with over 20 of her visually stunning paintings to illustrate this whimsical story.

The artist was inspired to write the book when her real-life dog named Rook kept bringing in unusual items from their backyard and proudly showing them off. While sharing amusing videos online, she was told repeatedly that she should write a book. So she did, beautifully illustrating the magic of both adventure and home.

According to reviews, the light-hearted tale “highlights imagination and innocence”, is “perfect for children of all ages”, and “a great ‘read out loud’ book”.
